What a difference a day makes! Yesterday was the first really warm, sunny day we've had all year - temperatures reached 76 degrees by late afternoon!  We fished the upper Beaverkill for an hour and a half yesterday afternoon - had success fishing with a size #14 Adams.…few rises, most very splashy, with some female Hendricksons still around, and a few Blue Winged Olives and caddises in the air. However the black flies were intolerable and we cut our fishing trip short.

This afternoon we returned to the river - drove along the Willowemoc and lower Beaverkill and watched and waited - not a single rise and hardly any flies. One thought was the intense sun and wind...as the trout do not seem to enjoy the bright sun as much as the trout fishers do....and the wind really disturbed the water's surface.
