Fishing report June 6, 2017
It’s hard to believe how the river can change so drastically in less than 24 hours….on Monday evening, June 5, the Beaverkill was flowing at about 420 cubic feet per second. Flies were hatching, fish rising, fishing was great and all was well in the Catskills. We heard heavy rains on and off during the night - but were still shocked to discover that by Tuesday morning, the Beaverkill at Cooks Falls had swelled to 61,000 cfs!! We dodged a bullet as far as flooding was concerned, but it was so disappointing as a fly fisher to realize that the Green Drake hatch that was just recently occurring would be over and ruined by such high flows.
