We had a good night’s fishing on the Willowemoc, despite the concerted efforts of two beavers, who were determined to chase us away! They would sneak up toward where I was standing in the water and SLAP the water, then swim away. One actually started watching me cast from a distance - and seemed particularly interested in my fly and where I placed it (just upstream of a rising trout.) After I caught that trout and tried for another, the busy beaver swam over to the next rise and just ‘hung out’ there - and so I took the hint and moved upstream.
We saw lots of caddis flies in the air and a rise from time to time, and despite leaving a bit early due to the beaver, each managed to catch a couple of nice trout - one a rainbow, the others browns.
