Saturday, April 2 was the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum's Celebration of the trout fishing season. A ceremonial First Cast was held in the waters of the Willowemoc Creek flowing thru Wulff Run in front of the CFFC, followed by a gathering at the Center to enjoy some of Agnes Van Put's famous homemade soup and cookies. 99-year old Agnes is pictured here with her grandson, Lee Van Put, and is eagerly awaiting her Centennial Birthday (yes, that's right, she'll be 100 on August 15!!) which will be celebrated at the CFFC's SummerFest on August 6, 2016.
Also present April 2 at the CFFC&M was Ed Van Put, who signed copies of his new book, The Beaverkill: The History of a River and Its People 2nd Edition. Recently published by Stackpole, this updated new edition features new text, a chapter on Flies with Ties to the Beaverkill and extensive color photos throughout. Ed is seated at the table with Mary Dette opposite, and was visited by Joan Wulff and Sullivan County Historian John Conway later in the morning. Photos courtesy of Anisha Arouza.
